Büra Kayıkçı – Beyond Walls: Istanbul

Büra Kayıkçı, a talented pianist and composer, presents her new project, ‚Beyond Walls: Istanbul.‘ This innovative performance transforms the architectural memory of Istanbul, its sounds, and stories into a musical journey. By merging her musical identity with her background in architecture, Kayıkçı creates a unique experience that combines acoustic piano, electronic textures, and field recordings from various locations around the city.

The project features five original pieces inspired by iconic structures in Istanbul, such as Sirkeci Postanesi, Kapalıçarşı, Atik Valide Külliyesi, Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar Müze Kütüphanesi, and Osmanlı Bankası / SALT Galata. Each composition not only reflects the architecture of these places but also narrates their history, function, atmosphere, and significance within the city’s collective memory.

In Kayıkçı’s approach, music transforms into an invisible architecture, crafting a space where listeners can wander through sound.
