The Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra is set to perform a grand concert on October 3 at the Türk Telekom Opera Salonu as part of the Kültür Yolu Festival. Under the direction of conductor Hasan Niyazi Tura, the orchestra will be joined by the talented South Korean pianist Yekwon Sunwoo, a gold medalist at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.
The concert will open with Tura’s own composition, Toccata, followed by one of the romantic era’s masterpieces, Robert Schumann’s A minor Piano Concerto, Op. 54. This piece is renowned for its lyrical beauty and technical demands on the soloist, making it a highlight of the evening.
In the second half of the concert, audiences will be treated to Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, Op. 35. This symphonic suite is inspired by the tales of the Arabian Nights and is celebrated for its lush orchestration and captivating storytelling through music. The combination of these works promises an enchanting evening for classical music enthusiasts.
