Maximum Presents: Yann Tiersen

Prepare for an unforgettable evening as Yann Tiersen, the renowned French composer, pianist, and multi-instrumentalist, returns to Istanbul after a long hiatus. Known for his musical elegance that evokes deep emotions, Tiersen will grace the stage at Maximum Uniq Açıkhava on Saturday, October 10th, with the event organized by Stagepass. Before Tiersen takes the spotlight, Alice Boyd and Islandman will warm up the audience with their captivating performances.

Celebrating his 30-year career this year, Tiersen’s musical journey began at the tender age of four when he first played the piano. By the age of thirteen, he had formed his first band, diving into the punk rock scene with guitar and synth. After spending four years in a punk group, he embarked on a solo career that saw him explore the realms of synths, samplers, and drum machines. This period led him to discover sampling, as he combined various instruments to create his unique motoric acoustic miniatures.

Globally recognized for his film scores, Tiersen has garnered César Award and BAFTA nominations for his work. Throughout his career, he has crafted a rich sonic palette that spans classical music, electronic soundscapes, folk, and ambient genres. His latest album, “Rathlin from a Distance | The Liquid Hour,” marks a musical and personal turning point, showcasing his deep connection with nature and minimalist storytelling.

This two-part work features “Rathlin from a Distance,” an introspective piano journey, and “The Liquid Hour,” which opens the door to a sound universe filled with electronic textures and psychedelic rhythms. During the Istanbul concert, Tiersen will share beloved classics from his past alongside special selections from his new album. Known for his minimalist compositions, emotional intensity, and vibrant stage presence, Tiersen promises to deliver an artistic experience that transcends a typical concert, weaving together music, nature, sound, and emotion.
