Yoko Ono: İçses ve İçyapı (Insound and Instructure) brings together works spanning more than seven decades of Yoko Ono’s influential artistic practice. Presented at the Sakıp Sabancı Museum in Istanbul, the exhibition explores her distinctive approach to conceptual art through installations, objects, photography, video, music, performance and participatory works.
Rather than simply asking visitors to observe, many of Ono’s works invite them to become part of the artwork. Instructions, gestures and everyday actions become artistic experiences, encouraging visitors to think about peace, imagination, freedom, absence and human connection. Her practice often transforms simple ideas into open-ended experiences that are interpreted and completed by the audience.
The exhibition traces Ono’s artistic journey from her early experimental work and involvement with the Fluxus movement to later projects addressing war, peace and social change. It highlights the connection between her conceptual ideas and her enduring belief in the power of individual action and collective imagination.
Set within the Sakıp Sabancı Museum in Istanbul’s elegant Emirgan district, the exhibition offers travelers an opportunity to combine contemporary art with one of the city’s most scenic Bosphorus neighborhoods. The museum’s waterfront setting, historic villa and gardens make the visit an experience beyond the exhibition itself.
