Acclaimed American saxophonist, composer and bandleader Isaiah Collier brings his celebrated Collier Plays Coltrane project to Komünite in Istanbul on 19 November 2026. One of the leading voices of the new Chicago jazz movement, Collier pays tribute to the legacy of John Coltrane while presenting a bold contemporary vision shaped by spiritual jazz, improvisation and modern composition.
Known for collaborations with artists including Angel Bat Dawid, Chance the Rapper and Wadada Leo Smith, Collier has earned international recognition for his fearless musicianship and visionary approach to jazz. His critically acclaimed album Cosmic Transitions received widespread praise for expanding the boundaries of contemporary jazz while honouring its rich traditions.
Rather than recreating Coltrane’s music note for note, Collier Plays Coltrane reinterprets his spiritual and artistic legacy through powerful improvisation and deeply expressive performances. The result is a concert that feels both timeless and forward-looking.
