Panorama: Dreams and Places

Panorama: Hayaller ve Yerler (Panorama: Dreams and Places) brings together works by 18 artists from different generations in a thematic exploration of contemporary photography and lens-based art in Türkiye. Presented at Istanbul Modern, the exhibition features works created since the 2010s and examines how artists use photography and related media to imagine new ways of seeing the world.

Across dreamlike landscapes, alternative visual geographies, fictional portraits and imagined inner spaces, the exhibition responds to the pressures and upheavals of contemporary life. Rather than offering an escape from reality, these works create spaces for slowing down, reflecting and seeing familiar ideas from different perspectives.

The exhibition extends beyond traditional photography, bringing together installations, moving images, artificial intelligence applications and archival materials. Together, these diverse approaches explore how photography can do more than document reality — it can also construct emotional landscapes, imagined places and entirely new ways of experiencing space.
